Codi Vierra grew up in the Bay Area, and moved to San Diego to attend UC San Diego, from which she graduated with a degree in Political Science, and minors in Business and in Urban Studies & Planning. During that time she served on the Executive Board of the UCSD College Democrats, and as Executive Director of the UCSD’s Student Organized Voter Access Committee (SOVAC) under the Associated Students, responsible for student voter registration and engagement efforts.

In this role, she organized the annual move-in voter registration drive, negotiated an agreement with campus administration to allow for nonpartisan door-to-door voter registration, negotiated with the Registrar of Voters to establish a Mail-Ballot Drop-Off site on campus and directly hired/managed several student MBDO workers, and oversaw the registration of 2000+ students to vote ahead of the June primary election. She has since helped register thousands more students to vote and provided trainings to other student groups, Democratic clubs, and campaigns.

Codi has volunteered and worked on multiple campaigns, serving as Finance Director and Campaign Manager for Congressman Scott Peters’ 2020 reelection campaign and later as a Field Representative in his District Office. She served for three years as Deputy Chief of Staff to San Diego City Councilmember Stephen Whitburn, and later as Deputy Political Director on the 2026 gubernatorial campaign for Senate President Pro Tem Emeritus Toni Atkins. She now works with multiple campaigns including those of Congressman Scott Peters and Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel.

Codi is a member of the San Diego County Democratic Party (SDCDP) Central Committee and serves on its Executive Board. From 2021-2023 she was the Director of Clubs elected by the Council of Clubs, overseeing and assisting over 50 Democratic clubs in San Diego County. She was elected as the Metro West Area Caucus Vice Chair in 2025 after serving as Vice Chair Pro Tem and Acting Vice Chair since 2023. She is also the former President of the University City Democratic Club.

In 2019, Codi was also elected to serve as an Assembly District Delegate to the California Democratic Party (CDP). She was then appointed to serve on the CDP Voter Services Committee, through which she helped the party with its goal of increasing student voter registration and participation. That year she was also able to pass a resolution through the CDP Executive Board supporting the restoration of voting rights for Californians in prison or on parole, making it an official position of the party. In 2025, she was elected to the CDP Executive Board as a representative of the SDCDP Central Committee.

Codi also served as Secretary, Director of Membership, Vice President, and President of the San Diego County Young Democrats (SDCYD). As Secretary, she kept meeting minutes, created a new ranked choice voting process, prepared ballots for endorsement meetings, and contributed extensively to the bylaws review process. As Director of Membership, she created a new process for joining and renewal to ensure the club had all required information for rechartering with the SDCDP, CDP and CYD, thus ensuring maximum representation for the club in each organization’s endorsement process. As Vice President, she chaired the Political Affairs Committee, responsible for determining the club’s endorsement calendar, candidate questionnaires, noticing candidates according to bylaws and party rules, and organizing political activities for the club. She then served as President from 2021 to 2025. Under her leadership, SDCYD was awarded SDCDP Affinity Club of the Year for their 2024 efforts, including organizing two bus trips of 90+ people to Arizona in order to canvass for Kamala Harris and other Democratic candidates. Under Codi, SDCYD also hosted annual fundraisers, regularly bringing in $30,000 - $40,000 per year to help support Young Democrats' participation in conventions and other CYD and Party activities, including hosting the Welcome Reception for the 2024 CYD Convention and CDP Executive Board Meeting in San Diego.

From 2022 - 2025, Codi served as the Vice President of Membership for the California Young Democrats (CYD), having previously served as the Vice President of Finance, Secretary, South State Regional Director (San Diego & Imperial Counties), and Deputy Regional Director.

In 2017, Codi was elected an at-large member of the San Diego County Democratic Party Council of Clubs Club Development Committee, led by the Director of the Council of Clubs, and served until 2019. Through this role, she assisted local clubs and the Director, providing feedback about impacts of proposed bylaw amendments, especially on Young Democrats clubs. She also gave a presentation to the Council in 2018 on the benefits of using Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) for endorsement meetings. Many clubs were already using a multi-round voting process that required members to stay present at meetings for hours on end to go through multiple rounds, or risk hurting their preferred candidate in later rounds. Many clubs have now started adopting RCV, making endorsement meetings faster, smoother, and more accessible.

Codi has also worked on multiple campaigns in the region, and so has observed and engaged with the party and its processes from the outside, as well as within. Recently, when concerns came up about the role of clubs in the local party’s endorsement process, Codi put forth a series of proposals to reform it, which was reported on by the Voice of San Diego. These reforms included changing the area recommendation process to mimic the CDP’s regional pre-endorsement process, which would give weighted votes to clubs based on the size of their membership, rather than one vote per club, in order to eliminate the incentive for club-splitting.

Fun fact: Her great-grandfather played on SDSU’s basketball team when they were the “1923 SoCal Champs” 🏀
